These were 3 days full of exciting talks, discussions and (new) contacts at SPS 2023. In a presentation, Holger Borcherding, Hartwig Stammberger and Dominik Maihöfner explained how a low-voltage direct current can support the energy transition. The advantages of DC include 50 percent less copper, 50 percent less power loss in the cabling compared to 3 AC, complete recovery of braking energy, a significant reduction in peak current demand from the AC grid as well as reliability and thus easy integration of energy storage systems.
On the second day of the trade fair, we spoke in the Good Morning Automation format about the milestones achieved so far, why we need to think big and to what extent the concept is already being used in reality. We are convinced that direct current will become a turning point in our debates on resource and energy efficiency.
Thanks to everyone who stopped by our booth and we look forward to the next trade fair.
