A Look Back at a Successful Week in Shanghai - It was an exciting week for the Open Direct Current Alliance as we took part in the Industrial Automation Show in Shanghai, seizing a unique opportunity to engage with leading companies and enthusiasts from China and across Asia on the future of direct current (DC) technology.
Numerous new connections were made, and in-depth discussions explored how DC technology can transform the energy landscape and pave the way for a sustainable future.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to our partners, Phoenix Contact and Weidmüller, for their outstanding support and collaboration—this event wouldn’t have been the same without them.
One of the highlights of the fair was meeting with our partners from Europe Electro and connecting with colleagues from various China-based teams. The expertise and insights shared were invaluable in aligning on our shared goals and enhancing our collaborative efforts.
In addition to familiar members, ODCA had a productive meeting with the China DC Alliance (CDCA) team. These discussions were instrumental in exploring future potential for DC technology and possible areas of collaboration, which we believe will be crucial in advancing DC technology and actively shaping the energy transition.
The CDCA, led by Professor Dejun Ma, invited ODCA to participate in the “Carbon Footprint International Standard & Low Voltage DC System Innovation and Development” conference in Shanghai. This event underscored global efforts in sustainability and innovation and highlighted the significant role of DC technology in a sustainable energy future.
At the conference, Vimal Mahendru represented the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), while ODCA’s Dominik Maihöfner shared the many advantages of DC technology in low-voltage applications, spotlighting best practices from ODCA members. Weidmüller provided additional insights into its own developments and advances in DC technology.
Further presentations covered technological advancements, including strides in rapid charging and innovations in DC compressors. This gathering demonstrated once again the importance of international collaboration and knowledge sharing in driving forward sustainable energy solutions worldwide.
A final highlight of the week was a meeting with the mayor of Yixing. Discussions centered on the city’s environmental initiatives and potential collaboration with ODCA. Yixing aims to pursue sustainability and efficiency goals closely with the local industry, and the meeting provided an opportunity to showcase how ODCA’s global network and DC technology could support the city’s sustainability objectives.
This successful week in Shanghai has brought ODCA valuable new perspectives and connections. We look forward to strengthening these partnerships and taking the next steps toward a sustainable future powered by DC technology. Together with our members and partners, we are ready to shape the future of energy.
