The Open Direct Current Alliance had the honor of participating in the Korean-German Standards Dialogue in Seoul, South Korea, where industry experts from both Germany and South Korea came together to discuss key topics in international standardization.
This event, organized by the Korean Standards Association (KSA) and DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies), provided a valuable platform for advancing discussions on standards that drive innovation and global cooperation in high-tech industries.
Dominik Maihöfner of ODCA presented the numerous advantages of Direct Current (DC) for industrial grids, showcasing key insights and real-world applications from ODCA members. These discussions were integral in promoting the transformative role of DC technology in the future of energy systems, smart manufacturing, and industrial operations.
A Visit to the HD Hyundai Building
As part of the visit to Seoul, ODCA was also given the opportunity to tour the HD Hyundai Building, where we witnessed the latest advancements in DC technology in Korea, including DC installations across various parts of the building. This innovative application of DC systems highlights the growing interest and adoption of DC technology in commercial buildings and infrastructure, marking a significant step towards energy-efficient and sustainable operations.
On the day before the standards dialogue, ODCA held an insightful meeting with KEPCO, HD Hyundai and LS Electric, Korean leaders in the development of electric power solutions. During this session, we discussed current developments and ongoing projects in the DC space, further emphasizing the collaboration between South Korean and international stakeholders to drive the evolution of DC technology. The exchange of knowledge and ideas between all is vital for the continued advancement of DC solutions in industrial applications and energy systems.
The Korean-German Standards Dialogue marked a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to develop and promote global standards that will enable the seamless integration of DC technology worldwide. With contributions from leading organizations such as KATS (Korean Agency for Technology and Standards), KSA, DKE, and DIN, this event highlighted the critical importance of fostering international cooperation to tackle shared challenges and create new opportunities for innovation.
As the ODCA, we remain committed to advancing Direct Current technology, driving standardization efforts, and collaborating with global partners to accelerate the transition to cleaner, more efficient energy systems.
Together, we can shape a sustainable future powered by DC technology and global standardization.
